Since the opening of our new Astro pitch, activity at Gortnaglough has increased significantly. This is great to see and it reflects both the growth of the club and the demand for the facility, but it has also brought real pressure on car parking, particularly at peak training and match times.

Our grounds hold approximately 70 cars but in recent weeks, especially on Sundays, this capacity has regularly been exceeded, with cars spilling out onto the public road. We are acutely aware that this has led to congestion at the gate, delays, and understandable frustration for members, neighbours and visitors.

The club recognises this as a serious issue and it is now our number one priority to address. In the short term, we are actively working on options to improve the situation and we are currently obtaining quotes that would allow additional overflow parking on the grassy area to the right as you enter the grounds. This would be a temporary measure to help relieve pressure while we prepare a longer-term more permanent solution.

SAFETY is a major concern in the meantime. There is heavy foot traffic through the car park and entrance area, including very young children coming to and from the Astro. We are asking everyone to slow down, stay alert, and be extra vigilant when driving or parking in and around the grounds. Please be patient when trying to find parking space and leaving the grounds. Most importantly be extremely mindful of pedestrians at all times.

We appreciate that parking has become challenging and we ask for your understanding while we work through solutions. The success of the Astro has brought new pressures, but it also gives us the opportunity to keep improving our facilities in a planned and responsible way.
